Wellness Reminders During Quarantine

The quarantine life. It’s been roughly two months since we’ve been faced with the dilemma of social distancing and isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While it’s pretty fair to say that this has been an inconvenience for all of us, I think it’s also fair to assess that we are getting through it. When it comes to support and motivation, little reminders can go a long way. From us to you, here are some things to remember as time in quarantine continues to pass:

  1. You’re STILL doing an amazing job. This time has been incredibly frustrating, stressful, scary, and a disruption to daily living. You have the right to feel the way that you feel, just remember to acknowledge and feel your victories too. Every day that passes is another day that has been conquered and in the timeline of your entire life, this period in history is very short. What are some things about yourself that you are proud of during this time?

  2. Stay connected…not only with others, but with yourself. Take the time to check in with how you’re feeling mentally AND physically. Your body can sometimes respond to trauma differently and while you may not mentally feel stressed, your body may be. Challenge yourself to switch up your routine to give yourself the boost that you need. If medical attention is needed, seek it. If showers are needed, take them.

  3. …but be mindful of blue light. Too much exposure to blue light (emitted from your phone and electronics) may negatively influence your mood and tolerance. The over exposure to blue light could lead to disruptions in your sleeping pattern, difficulty with vision and focusing, risk of heart disease + obesity, and increase the risk of anxiety + depression. You can protect yourself by wearing blue light filtering glasses (no prescription needed) and/or by adjusting the display options in your electronics. A good old fashioned phone call with someone also goes a long way.

  4. Hold your negative thoughts accountable, then adjust accordingly. Cognitive restructuring is so important, especially during times that you find yourself in a funk. While we can’t always control our situations, we can control the way that we perceive them which ultimately leads to a different outcome.

  5. Continue to take advantage of this time…even if it means by resting. Do something that brings you peace or work towards something that you’ve always wanted to do or try. Finally take that nap, evolve your business, read that book, cook that elaborate meal! For many, the time is now and it is all fair game. How are you taking advantage of it?

Again, you’re doing an amazing job and although our situations may differ and vary, we truly are all in this together. Do what you can to support others within your realm and ability while others support you within theirs. The Consulting Firm is also a resource that is here to support your needs.
