New Year's Resolution? Here's The Only One That You'll Ever Need.

As another year and a new decade approach, here we are again, faced with the annual reminder to make life changes that we wished we had maintained in the past. We give ourselves the pep talk, share our goals with others, and put the pedal to the metal once the new year begins. Forced to conform to this rigid new life, it all suddenly becomes too much and before we know it, we’re over it…just in time for April Fools Day.

So why do many of us lose momentum so quickly? How did we start with anticipation and end with “amnesia”? Here’s why: because setting a goal to maintain for an entire three hundred + sixty five days is not fun, it’s an overwhelming chore.

The only New Year’s resolution that you need is to live a life of good intentions, one day at a time.

Consider these components:

  • Take advantage of the moments that make you feel accomplished

  • Connect yourself to things that bring you peace

  • Strive for moments that bring you joy

Any specific goals that you have set in the past can fit into these components without feeling a sense of pressure. When you channel your energy to focus on opportunities that are within the moment and on a shorter scale, you accomplish more. 365 days are a lot of days to account for, but focusing on tasks one day at a time creates a discipline and dedication that are unmatched.

Advice: For those that thrive off of challenges, know the difference between push and pressure. Pushing transitions you into something…pressure forces the depletion of your inner self. When you feel like a certain goal is not being met, identify if the culprit is from pressure, instead of pushing.

You’ve got this….you’re going to do great because you are indeed great.

Happy New Year! :)
